Community Recreation, CFB Petawawa is a Registered Organization with HIGH FIVE, Canada’s only quality assurance standard.  Community Recreation has committed to provide the highest quality recreation and sport programs to children aged 6-12.  Through training and development, program assessments, and policy and procedure evaluations, Community Recreation commits to assisting children along the path of healthy child development.

High Five is based on 5 Principles: A Caring Adult, Friends, Play, Mastery and Participation. Here is what you can expect to see in Kidz 1st Recreation Programs:

A Caring Adult:  Our staff will be involved, engaged and interactive with the children. They will demonstrate a genuine interest in each child, show respect, honesty and trust with each child. Our team will focus on the positive aspects of your child’s day.

Friends: Children will have opportunities to build friendships with caring Recreation Leaders to guide them through the ups, downs and learning curves of interactions, providing them with problem solving tools and opportunities for insight to assist them in developing positive relationships with peers.

Play: A safe, relaxed environment with a variety of planned activities so that kids can just have fun!

Mastery: Recreation Leaders will assist children in discovering their abilities, learning new skills and being successful, all step by step in a series of accomplishments.
Participation: Fair opportunities for all children, encouragement, adaptability and leader involvement.

These 5 Principles are put into action based on High Five’s Three Design Guidelines: Developmentally Appropriate, Safe and Welcoming of Diversity and Uniqueness. What does this mean for your child(ren)?

Developmentally Appropriate: means that the equipment, environment, directions and guidelines implemented within our programs will compliment your child’s physical and cognitive development levels in order to ensure success and a positive experience.

Safe: means your children will participate in our programs free of discrimination, harassment and bullying, physical harm, stress, anxiety and isolation.

Welcoming of Diversity and Uniqueness: means that all of our programs are completely inclusive; your children will be welcomed, respected and given equal opportunity regardless of developmental level, gender, culture, language, ability or socioeconomic background. Our team will also ensure that in circumstances where children require support or assistance, it will be provided to the best of our ability.
